We always suggest Bangkok Airways to Samui airport as it is only ten minutes away and you can book online at www.bangkokair.com Occasionally, guests have tried flying into Suratthani airport on the mainland as the flights to and from are less expensive, but this leaves a further three to four hours of travel by road and sea to get here and that’s if everything runs to schedule! Sometimes it’s just worth spending the money!

It is very relaxed on the island and often very hot, so swimwear and a few cool clothes are really all that is required. We have a daily laundry service which is not expensive, so why not take advantage of that and leave yourself lots of space for your purchases? Don’t forget to pop in that favourite item of clothing that you wish you’d bought ten of – you’ll be able to get it copied here very reasonably!
Not as such but recommend that you are sensitive to local customs. Topless sunbathing on Public Beaches is not allowed but perfectly acceptable in the privacy of the hotel; we also suggest that a light cotton shirt is worn when shopping or dining in restaurants in the evening. It is also customary in Asia to remove shoes when entering a house or your hotel room. Shoes in the common areas are acceptable. If you visit a Wat (Temple) you should dress discretely with shoulders covered and long shorts or trousers.
Do not point with your feet or show the soles of your feet; Do not touch a persons head, especially that of ladies; ladies should not touch or hand anything to a Monk nor should they sit next to a Monk on public transport; When visiting Temples, dress modestly covering the shoulders and knees.
Wait until you arrive as you will obtain a much better rate. You can always go the bank or use your card in an ATM machine.
